Replacing Citroen C4 Stereo
Citroen C4 Picasso
HiNot sure if this sort of post is OK for this forum but I really need some help.I'm looking for someone to give me a definitive answer on the methods/risks of changing a head unit and connecting an iPod on my C4 Picasso (RD4 Factory fitted stereo). I've searched web forums (including this one), spoken to Citroen, spoken to Car radio dealers, spoken to Connects2 and I'm still confused. My main objective is to connect an iPod but I don't want to use the cheap FM transmitters as I think they are rubbish. I would ideally like to change the head unit and attach the iPod as well. Maybe it's easier if I put down my understanding of what my options are and see if anyone agrees.Keep factory fitted stereo and use something like the Dension Ice Link, or i-Connect FM from Connects 2.

These will connect to the CD changer port on the RD4.Change head unit to a Sony unit using the Connects2 DCTS002 adapter which will enable me to keep the steering wheel controls and displayIf I buy a Sony unit and want to connect the iPod then I will need a ASOIPOD001 adapter from Connects2 if it has a CD changer port, but if it hasn't got a CD changer port then I will need the Ice Link or i-ConnectFM options. Are the above correct? I have been told that Connects2 only do an adapter to retain the steering controls and the display for Sony head units, so changing to another manufacturer's head unit isn't possible. My other question is with regards to the risks. If I have the correct lead for my car will it always work or is there any chance of screwing the computer of the car up (and the display)? If it gets screwed up can the old radio be put back in to correct this? Finally, will Citroen fit kit that I have bought or will an independent fitter do it and what's the impact on the warranty?Sorry for so many questions. If I can find out the answers to the above then I can start looking at what options I have for the actual Sony head units, depending on if I want control over the iPod from the head unit etc.Totally confused by all the differing information I've found when trying to research this and hope someone can put me right.CheersChris. Hi Chris.I think your worrying a little to much.
When I took delivery of my Peugeot the first thing I did was strip out the 6 stacker and standard headunit and replaced it with an alpine unit with ipod link. I just used the standard wiring and could of left the stacker attached if I wanted. The only thing I lost was the steering wheel control but this to me isn't a huge loss. I have heard of the connects 2 unit with the sony headunits but I didn't bother looking at this option. Changing your headunit won't mess with the cars computer I can gaurentee that as peugeot and citroen are basically the same car.As for fitting Citroen would fit the unit but may charge you £100 or so for the pleasure.
I'd recommend going to an audio/ICE dealer who would do it for maybe £20 and set headunit up and ipod adaptor to meet your needs.Hope this helps a little.
